About the Author

Meet Melissa Kim Corter

As a highly empathic, intuitive child, Melissa Kim Corter was fascinated with other people’s basements. Dark, unexplored spaces enthralled her, and her insatiable curiosity toward the hidden dimensions of the mind led to decades of exploring the shadow dynamics within the human psyche.

Melissa is a Depth Psychologist (ABD) and international bestselling author. Her unique writing style blends psychology with symbolic forms found in film, fairy tales, and forensics. Melissa is trained in traditional Jungian Shadow Work—the root of shadow studies.

Melissa’s decades of experience include working closely with the dark night of the soul, psychopathy, and encounters with darkness, these themes deeply imbue her writing. Her work often makes people uncomfortable as it draws on and celebrates the macabre, dark, and misunderstood dimensions of personality.

Melissa advanced her studies by completing a training in journalism through New York University and she became a certified medicolegal investigator (death investigator) in 2025.  She has a master’s degree in Depth Psychology and Jungian Archetypal studies and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Pacifica Graduate Institute.

Hauntingly Beautiful Imagery blended with the symbolism of fairy tales

"Melissa is one of the most gifted writers, teachers, and healers I have ever had the honor of crossing paths with. Her unique ability to confront the more shadowy aspects of human behavior to bring insight, awareness, and connection back to the guiding light of one’s innate intuitive abilities is extraordinary to witness."
